The Secret Handshake to the Wine World

by John Mills » Thu Jan 18, 2007 12:19 pm

I've only been really into wine for a few years but have been lucky enough to have friends in the industry. It really helps.

So, a month ago, I started writing about my journey, so my other newbie friends could learn along with me.

It's been so fun learning and deconstructing this traditionally stuffy and elitiest culture. I thought I'd post the link for you guys incase you wanted to follow along too.

Let me know what you think...

I think it's tacky.

Not your blog, just the way you are using an open forum for no other reason then to plug it.

Sorry you feel that way.

I don't sell anything, and in the spirit of community, I wanted to inspire some conversation - good or bad.

I'm still learning, not only about wine, but blogging/bulletins/etc in general.

But that is the very point. You are not taking part in the community and you are not conversing.

In your other post, (about Aroma) instead of taking part and adding your input to the conversation you just said --look at my blog.

You might not feel it at the moment, but this is a friendly place and a good place for someone like you who knows little about wine to learn a great deal.

But signing onto a discussion forum soley to advertise another site is not the way to gain friends.

Lot sof people here have a blog and play an active part in this forum. Why not join us and be one of them?

Point taken.

I apologize to all whom I've annoyed.

I wouldn't worry about it... just put your blog into your signature and jump into conversations when you can.
I can certainly see that you know your wine. Most of the guests who stay here wouldn't know the difference between Bordeaux and Claret.

Linking back to Robin's site from his would be another nice gesture.
