WTN: Bonny Doon "Honey-Grape" Wine and Trecini

Bonny Doon "La Garrigue" Honey-Grape Wine. Randall chapitalized some lean (not very ripe) Columbard grapes in producing this wine. https://shop.bonnydoonvineyard.com/product/-La-Garrigue

The tasting notes and description are spot on. One "expects" this wine to be sweet, and there is a touch of a honey note to it. But, to my palate, which is always "looking" for savory notes in white wine, this La Garrigue has that element in spades. Not sure it was the best wine for Caprese salad, but we enjoyed it nonetheless. A-/B+

Trecini "Italian Collection" Barbera D'Alba 2012. First bottle I've dared to open from a my warm inland California air conditioning crash self-inflicted storage disaster. No leakage or even cork intrusion. Still good! Not a ton of fruit (2012 seems a little long in the tooth for Babera?) but a very quaffable, very Italian wine. Cherry notes. Savoryness (again). And the ineffable bitter note that I so enjoy in Italian wines. Produced by? for? and imported by an Italian-American family who run a winery in Sonoma County. I randomly discovered their tasting room while exploring Downtown Santa Rosa on bicycle-their California wines are very nice as well. This Barbera was delicious with char grilled lamb, and I was quite pleased. Only damage might be a hint...just a hint of a candied note. But that could be normal for the wine as well. A solid B
