2001 Joh. Jos. Christoffel Erben Erdener Treppchen Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (4/21/2017)
Sixteen years in, and this is developing, but not showing "aged" flavors. Instead it is a chiseled, finely detailed sculpture of Riesling. Citrus and peach fruit are charged with pure electricity. The mid-palate and finish are awash with pure, stony water flavored with lime zest There are hints of smoke, and a tiny bit of spice, but this is still mostly about fruit, stones and perfect balance.
