Had friends over yesterday to sip wine out on the warm patio (60F, that's what we call warm here)--a momentous day, as it was the first of it's kind since last fall.
I poured these three Sauv Blancs:
2014 Matthews Sauvignon Blanc Columbia Valley
Rich and velveteen with herbacious notes a little buried under RS and oak. Has the highest alcohol, and that shows. Definitely the sweetest, unanimous last place.
2015 Robert Mondavi Winery Fumé Blanc Napa Valley
Crisp and tight. Lemon grass, green grass and apple fruit with a little kaffir lime leaf. Nicely dry and balanced. Five first place votes.
2015 St. Supéry Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley
Super refreshing and exotically bright with honeydew melon, kiwi fruit and cucumber notes out front, mild grass underneath. One first place vote and five seconds.
