WTN: Idlewild TheBee WW '16...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Tue Apr 11, 2017 9:54 am

Digging into more of my Idlewild stash, I tried last night:
1. Idlewild TheBee Flora&FaunaWhite NorthCoast (11.8%) 2016: Med.yellow color; lovely very floral/mango/pineapple/Vermentino-like quite perfumed nose; lightly tart strong floral/dried mango/dried pineapple slight earthy flavor; very long some tart/metallic strong floral/mango/dried pineapple bit spicy light earthy finish; not a profound white but a bright/fragrant/nervy/good-drinking very pretty white at a very fair price. $25.00

1. Sam Bilbro's F&F wines are his blended wines (white/rose/red) that he makes for fun and sells at a very attractive price. Not sure what grapes are in this wine. Perhaps Arneis and/or Cortese. In the past he's used Muscat/Friulano/Cortese/Arneis. It reminds me a lot of the Ryme Hers Vermentino but somewhat leaner. Nothing complicated, just good/clean fun here.

Sam sez it's MuscatCanelli/Arneis/Cortese. The Muscat character is rather low-key, not your usual in-your-face Muscat, more like a Slovene Malvasia d'Istriana than anything.

The first vintage of The Bee ('14) had lots of the Muscat character. I liked that one a lot.
