WTN: A Winkeler is as good as a nod

Wow! Just wow. The aromatic complexity and persistence of this wine is very impressive. The palate impression carries it along, compelling sip after sip. Crisp fruit, balanced acidity, and a juicy mid-palate carry this barely off-dry wine to within a har's breadth of Grosses Gewachs quality at a greatly reduced price. Impressive wine that works great with dinner, as well as on its own.

Coming here after two weeks away was like wandering into Pun-derland.

I don't think I tasted this one when I visited Spreitzer in June 2016. But the 2015 wines I did try were very good, with some besting the 2014 GG bottlings (the '15 GG wines were not released yet). I wound up buying the '15 Hallgartener Hendelberg Alte Reben Trocken.
