WTN: 2000 La Chapelle de Calon

by Michael K » Mon Jan 15, 2007 12:34 am

Third wine of Calon Segur and I guess it was okay, I shouldn't complain ...but I hope the first wine is much better.... After a few hours of air, it came to but only a bit.

Wine is purple garnet, bright with nose of berries and black currant and some oak. A hint of dark chocolate and older wood. Medium bodied, and some tannins (and an initially hollow mid-palate). Fresh and solid but not entirely interesting.

This is why so many say that a small producer's best wine at the same price is usually a better wine than a bigger house's cast-offs. Good data point.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
