WTN: Isole e Olena and a bonus Barolo

by Jay Labrador » Wed Mar 22, 2017 8:48 pm

Trying out samples of Isole e Olena. Just some short impressions.

Enjoyed the fragrant Collezione Privata 2015 Chardonnay a lot. The Chianti Classico 2014 was very classic with lots of sour cherry and raspberry notes leaving your mouth clean with every sip. Excellent Cepparello 2013 IGT. A touch of oak evident but that's a minor quibble. Rich, plummy fruit and very accessible. Surprisingly fresh Vin Santo 2006

I brought a Barolo to the tasting as well. Cordero di Montezemolo Enrico VI 2004 - Could do with a bit more age, but really, one can't complain too much. Lovely example of a modern style Barolo..

Hey good to see you Jay!

I buy the Cepparello every chance I get. It ages very well, and that kiss of oak fades into the background.

I hope someone does import Isole e Olena. They used to be brought in but at rather frightening prices.
