WTN: Borgo Scopeto 2003 Chianti Classico

Color: Garnet with rose around the edge

Nose: This was interesting in that I deteced truffle or fungi of some sort. There was also some smoke, earth, fennel and a hint of dark fruit.

Palate: Wood and acidity up front lead to some really dense fruit of plum and cherry. The finish has some chocolate notes. The balance is very nice and the finish is quite long. Good wine.

We had this with some good cold weather food: Meatballs with tomato sauce and pasta shells stuffed with ricotta cheese blend. We baked this with tomato sauce and sauteed mushrooms. The closest thing to a green veggie was the parsely garnish and the herbs in the cheese stuffing  .

Sounds like a lovely wine! I have a bottle of Borgo Cabreo-their "Supertuscan" Cab-Sangio blend that I want to open at the right town.
