The End of Western Civilization As We Know It...Again

by TomHill » Wed Mar 15, 2017 10:48 am

Interesting article in Forbes:
ReplicaWines

on Replica Wines, a company that chemically replicates wines & sells them at a cheaper price to milennials.

The wines they choose to replicate??
Kendall-Jackson VintnersReserve Chard, JoelGott Cabernet, and two Meiomi, PinotNoir & PrisonerRed.

Sorta makes me roll my eyes and ponder...why bother??

Anybody tried a Replica Wine alongside the original?? Or even one by itself??

Yep Tom, I bought a couple bottles of the Replica Block P... 2014 Red Blend. abv of 15.2% not hot at all but VERY extracted, kinda reminded me of Ch. St. Michelle "Indian Wells" Cabernet but even more extracted than that. I have a rather thin whimpy 2011 Cal. cab. that I will blend with the Replica 50/50 and hopefully get two bottles of enjoyable cabernet-ish wine. It should be more interesting that either bottling by itself.

Wild. I might be interested in trying them side-by-side.

Hmmm, this says they "replicate" with 90 or 95% accuracy depending on which set of characteristics you're measuring.

Totally coincidentally, the Smithsonian says that the genetic overlap between humans and rhesus monkeys is about 93%.
cheers, Patchen

Hey Tom, I'm not worried about the end of Western Civilization. The "Donald" will get us there pronto!
