Tucked away in the old Richmond (California) Shipyard is a pretty neat tasting room and multi-winery production facility in the RIGGER'S LOFT building.
Stunning place to taste wine! You can look out the windows at the Bay, and I love the old white-painted trellis work in this repurposed industrial building that was part of the Kaiser Shipyards war effort.
Very pleasant staff as well!
Several wineries, include R&B Cellars (the most "American" of the group), Carica (a Rhone specialist), Irish Monkey, and a new Pax Mahl project I didn't note the name of!
The Irish Monkey "Billberra" was interesting, despite the cute name

Made from a hobby vineyard in the OAKLAND HILLS! A touch of funk, some Barbera berry fruit, a nice core of acidity. Quite interesting. Irish Monkey also makes an Alexander Valley Cabernet Franc that shares that polished but not oaky, green but not astringent, AV flavor profile (which I enjoy).
Anyway...an interesting tasting place, especially if you are interested in war history or classic industrial architecture!
