My Carlisle shipment hit the stoop ystrday and, being the weakling that I am, I Pobega'd:
1. Carlisle Compagni-Portis SonomaVlly/SonomaCnty WW (13.9%; Plntd: 1954; OV White Field Blend: GWT/Trosseau/Riesling; 90 cs; Picked: Aug 18) Windsor 2015: Light yellow color; beautiful fragrant/GWT/lychee/floral some R/dried mango/spicy slight mineral/chalky very light earthy fairly complex very aromatic nose; some tart rather rich/lush strong lychee/GWT/floral/R/dried mango/spicy light mineral/earthy bit tangy some complex lovely flavor; very long/lingering somewhat tart/tangy rich strong floral/GWT/lychee/pear/R/mango/dried pineapple light earthy/mineral/chalky somewhat complex finish; lacks the intense hair-oil you get in many Calif GWT; speaks but does not shout of GWT; the mineral/chalky reminds mor of an AltoAdige or Trentino Traminer than anything; a lovely beautiful aromatic white w/ good acidity & texture. $29.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. MikeOfficer is, rightfully so, given high marks for his OV Zins and Syrahs, all of his reds. But, quietly & w/o a lot of fanfare, I find his whites are right up there at the same level of his red. This C-P and his Derivative are beautiful whites. And his Gruner...world-class, as good as anything from Austria. Did I mention that I followed Mike from (before) the very start??

2. OV Whites: I can often identify the signature of OldVines in Zins and field-blends. But, struggle as I may, I've yet to come up w/ any tell-tale character of OldVines in any whites, Calif or elsewhere in the World. I'm not a very good taster.
