A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. I'm a big fan of RedMuscat Dessert Wines. Mostly you find it in Italy...Trentino/AltoAdige/Friuli. A bit in Austria & Slovenia. There appears to be a fair amount planted in Calif of this variety...but you seldom see it in quality dessert wines. 'Tis a pity.
In the nose, it reminds some of the Quady Elysium, which is made from BlackMuscat or MuscatHamburg. But that Angelica wine is much sweeter, low-acid, and pretty heavy-handed.
This MoscatoRosa is probably the best one I've had. Even though it's quite sweet, it pirouettes across the palate like AnnaPavlova as TheDyingSwan.
This wine came from EnotecaVinoNostra on vanNess in TheCite, the retail arm of ToscoImports. I plan to get more.
