This wine was recommended to me by a former co-worker of my wife and who now manages a small wine store in the city. I was hoping to open a young Bordeaux with a nice piece of shell steak for dinner but, instead, opted for this Rhone. What a great choice it turned out to be.
This 95% syrah was very dark plum red, with nose of wet earth, ripe black fruit and leather. The subtleness of the fruit and slight acidity are nicely structured with the dried-out sweet tannin and some notes of spice and leather. Imho, this wine is at it's drinking peak, or at the point where it will not gain further complexity from additional bottle age. It was not overly complex, but this was very satisfying.
As I perused my winesearcher, it appears that there are not many bottles from this producer that reaches our shore. It's a shame as I definitely would like to sample the other vintages from this small family-run producer. A-.
