WTN: Fidelitas

by Jenise » Fri Feb 17, 2017 2:53 pm

Visited the Fidelitas tasting room in search of Malbecs for tonight's event and tasted these:

2013 Fidelitas Cabernet Sauvignon Quintessence Red Mountain
Big black and blue fruit with tannins to match, very concentrated, very evident oak, cocoa and cola, cassis-caramel sweetness on the finish stopping just this side of cloying for a Europeanized palate. Well made but not my thing.

2014 Fidelitas Malbec Red Mountain
Pretty nose of flowers and blue fruit on lightly toasted oak. A crowd pleaser--I purchased it for tonight's Malbec tasting.

2015 Fidelitas Sémillon Klipsun Vineyard Red Mountain
Copying the absolutely perfect description from another taster on CT: "Pear, stone fruit, herbs, and minerals. A loud wine, yet delivering precision and balance. Lively acid, serious grip, generous finish." I liked it so much I bought two bottles.

2013 Fidelitas Red Wine Canyons Vineyard Red Mountain Red Blend
Cedar nose on black and red fruit with dusty tannins, a little graphite on the finish. Balanced and attractive; I bought two bottles for my cellar.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

My folks bought quite a bit of Fidelitas at one time. Pretty good wines.

Yes, very well made, though Charlie has a bit of a heavy hand with the oak at times.
