2011 St. Innocent Pinot Noir Vitae Springs Vineyard Willamette Valley
Confirmed my misgivings of 2015. Where I've liked all the other 11 St. Inno's, this remains taut and tart. The nose is complex and attractive and there's a welcome cinnamon note now, but there's a persistent and annoying underripe green note on the palate that discourages waiting on remaining bottles. Drinkable--we did finish the bottle--but one has to be tolerant of green notes to enjoy it. Needs food.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Trying each of their 2011 releases over time? Would that be The Innocents Project?

Yikes. Green as in 04 Red Burgs? I have one bottle but I have never tried the wine. In general I am not bothered by green notes but this seems a little wonky. Cool vintage and I think Vitae is later ripening.

Best,

Jason

Yup, like that. I otherwise have really enjoyed the 11's, especially the Temperance Hill. I actually appreciate a bit of austerity and in fact went for the '11 SI when I was doing an Austrian dinner where a bit of Teutonic austerity was actually going to be a plus. But the Vitae is just a little on the mean side.
