WTN: 2014 Enfield Wine Co. Antle Vineyard Pinot Noir

2014 Enfield Wine Co. Pinot Noir Antle - USA, California, Central Coast, Chalone (2/4/2017)
From the first sip this was different from pretty much every other California Pinot Noir I had ever tasted. Yes it had the sunny fruit, though it veered more towards tart cherry and cranberry than anything riper. Where it was truly different was in the structure. There was a good balance of acidity, but then a chalky/limestone tannic element really kicked in. The wine was truly structured.

The fruit is certainly there for this wine to develop over at least the next several years as the tannins soften. It will be interesting to see what happens with this bottling. I am definitely looking forward to future vintages.
