W&V: Fermentation Vessels & Terroir..(the dreaded T-word)

Linked in today's Terroirist is a Wines&Vines article on Fermentation Vessels, particularly qvevris:
W&V:QvevriFermentations
In it, TexasTech professor BrentTrela suggests that making qvervi from the vnyd estate soil for your fermentations will offer a more complete expression of terroir in the wine.
Surely this guy can't be serious??

Yeah, Feiring implied that in For the Love of Wine also. I'm not even sure if those ideas are meant to be taken seriously, or are we just supposed to wonder at the poetry? Must admit it sounds a lot more fitting than French oak barrels, stainless steel, or concrete tanks or eggs.

I sure hope the beeswax used to seal the quevris comes from bees that feed from the vineyards. That would just make the whole thing perfect.
