2013 Weingut Eugen Wehrheim Niersteiner Oelberg Kabinett: One of my favorite inexpensive but excellent German Rieslings, this bottle again satisfied. Pale straw in color, the nose and palate were equal parts apple, pear and citrus with an herbal note on the finish. It was the acidity that I really love, almost spritzy but never tart, a wine that begs for another sip. Slightly sweeter than Kabinetts of yesteryear but fine at the table or sipping on the deck. Not easy to find however, this bottle came from Ann Arbor and I used to get it from D.C. when I went there every Fall. A very old estate, first began bottling wine in 1693.
