2005 Corison Cabernet Sauvignon - USA, California, Napa Valley (1/8/2017)
Deep, mysterious and deftly balanced, this is early days for the 2005 Corison Cabernet, but despite its youth the wine drinks very well. It has a roundness on the palate, excellent mid-palate richness, and no hardness at all to the tannins. It's certainly drinking well now with rich food (I had it with beef stew), but the balance and richness promises many years of development.

Corison produces one of the best balanced cabs in the valley IMHO.

I agree. As I pare down my purchases, my annual pack of Corison will not be among the victims.

The 2006 is just entering its drinking window, in my opinion. Definitely on the richer side (reflecting the warmer vintage) but still the lovely balance you discuss!

My friends are club members, and I always persuade them to stay so we can do the free tastings in the valley!
