Silvaner...oh no, not again!

Silvaner seems to be understood by a few, but gets thumbs down by many! Well, I am game enough to try a recent sighting in a downtown store so here goes!

TN: 2014 Brennfleck Silvaner Kabinett Anna-Lena, Franken Ger.

SC, $24 Cdn, 11.5% alc. Opened one hour, AP# 010-15, trocken in small letters on back label. Usual bottle presentation that fits neither the retail shelf nor restaurant or kitchen fridge!

Medium lemon in color, no green. Nose is fairly restrained at first but then apple, lime, mineral tones with "passionfruit" from across the table.
Very slight effervescense initially. Spicy with some crispness, "quite zesty". Nothing to really dislike here, good acidity on the finish. Not too complex a wine, apple and mineral, lemon. Hint of residual sugar on day 2. Good buy indeed.

Nice one, Bob. Sylvaner's detractors usually make an exception in favour of Franconia. I don't have enough experience to comment; something to remedy :D .
