TN: 2012 Purcari Negru de Purcari, Moldova, South Eastern.

Purchased for $22 (split).Good natural cork, 13.5% alc, Lot 5 03 1.2.15
70% Cab Sauv, 25% Saperavi, 5% Rara Neagra. Winery founded in 1827, decanted one hour w no sediment noted.

Medium depth in color..ruby red, no big intensity.
Nose takes a while to open up. Cherry, raspberry, black fruits. Not that oaky, some nice blackcurrant as it opens.
Initial entry thought is good acidity, cassis, tannic but "smooth at this early stage" from across the table. Needs some time I think, very nice structure, well made indeed..no rustic tones here. Very good length, not too ripe, more blackcurrant after second glass before draining the split!

Moldova, there's a new one for me.
I've had Saperavi from Georgia, didn't know it was grown elsewhere

Wine is something like 5% of Moldova's exports.
