WTN: S'il vous plait, ou est le Barbera

by David M. Bueker » Sat Dec 17, 2016 9:06 pm

2013 Idlewild Barbera Fox Hill Vineyard - USA, California, North Coast, Mendocino County (12/17/2016)
Close to two years since my last bottle of this, and I am so happy to have waited. The aromatics have become much more complex, with iron/meat/blood and floral notes added to the fruit tones. The mid-palate acidity has been fleshed out with even deeper fruit that turns towards a salty note on the finish. The fruit level is certainly Californian, but it's balanced and with the firm acids and added aroma/flavor notes this is pretty much everything I want in a Barbera.

p.s. Sorry for the obscure Pink Floyd reference, but it came to mind, so I had to use it
