WTN: Bedrock NervoRanch Heritage '15...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Mon Dec 12, 2016 10:51 am

Given the '14 that I recently tried, I was eager to try the new vintage, so Pobega'd:
1. Bedrock NervoRanch Heritage AlexVlly/SonomaCnty RW (Plnted: 1896; 14.5%; Zin + PS/Negrette/Carignan/TrousseauNoir) 2015: Dark color; very strong blackberry/Zin/boysenberry slight licorice/peppery slight jammy some dusty/OV fairly attractive nose; slightly soft ripe/blackberry/Zin/boysenberry rather spicy very light toasty/oak some dusty/OV rather pleasant/bit simple flavor w/ light soft tannins; med.long slightly soft attractive blackberry/raspberry/bit spicy Zin light dusty/OV/earthy light oak finish w/ light soft tannins; an altogether pleasant/attractive bit simple Zin but lacks structure & depth; seems somewhat better & more interesting than the '14. $39.50

I also find the Ridge Nervo Zins rather underwhelming. I've had a few Ridge Caboose Nervos that I thought were pretty good, but not many. Don't recall a Nervo that I thought was really exciting. The vines are beautiful old vines...ugly/gnarly. But maybe they just can't deliver.

I guess I liked this '15 version somewhat better than the '14. I would certainly not call it boring. But, still, it left me wishing for more. Given the age of the venerable NervoVnyd, I just think it should deliver the excitement of Bedrock/Pagani/Papera/etc. But it just seems to me a bit lacking.
