Bedrock Zin OldVine Calif (Vine average > 80 yrs; Drk: 11/16-11/21-11/26; 14.4%) Sonoma 2015: Dark color; very strong blackberry/raspberry/Zin/quite spicy quite dusty/OV light smokey/oak rather fragrant Zin nose; quite tart very lively/bright very spicy blackberry/raspberry/Zin fairly dusty/OV light toasty/oak flavor w/ light grippy tannins; very long very bright/spicy strong blackberry/raspberry/Zin fairly dusty/OV finish w/ light lean tannins; tannins a bit sharp & can use a yr or so; an absolutely delicious Zin at a great price. $19.50

Carlisle TheDerivative SonomaCnty WW (Plntd: 1886-1920; 46% Semillon/33% Muscadelle/22% Palomino; f'(x); 410 cs) Windsor 2014: Light gold color; rather fragrant/mango/flowery light wiggy/faxy bit Friulano-like some stony/mineral bit earthy slightly rustic/old-timey nose; lightly tart/tangy floral/figgy/waxy/mango rather stony/mineral/earthy very interesting flavor; med.long tart/tangy mineral/stony some floral/mango/waxy rather old-timey Calif white finish; reminds some of Friuli Friulano/Ribolla blands; some of old-timey GreyRiesling/GreenHungarian; a delicious sorta old-timey/throwback Calif white. $27.00

Carlisle Zin OldVines RRV/SonomaCnty (15.0%; Plntd: 1881-1934; interplanted mixed blacks; 750 cs) 2014: Med.dark color; quite dusty/OV/earthy very strong blackberry/raspberry/quite spicy/Zin light pencilly/oak lovely nose; soft very dusty/OV very spicy/blackberry/raspberry/Zin light toasty/oak flavor w/ light bit bitey tannins; long quite dusty/OV very spicy/blackberry/raspberry/Zin light toasty/oak finish w/ light bit rough tannins; an absolutely delicious RRV Zin w/ very strong dusty/OV character at a very good price. $28.60

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Of the two OV Zins, I slightly preferred the Carlisle. The Bedrock was a bit on the angular/hard side. Both will benefit from a yr of age and should go out 5 yrs or so.
