A couple of nice weeknight wines:

Dom. Gilbert et Christine Felettig 2014 Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits. A $20 basic Bourgogne from a domaine in Chambolle-Musigny, this is really good: not a lot of body, but not thin either, well-defined cherry fruit with an intensely minerally and saline finish, balanced and quite pure, and outstanding value.

Az. Agr. F.lli Cigliuti 2014 Barbera d'Alba VIgna Serraboella. Cigliuti produces two Barberas, of which this is the "lower" level, I guess, aged without new oak. Broad and fairly ripe but still pleasingly typical, with a solid core of acid, tart red and darker blue fruit with just a little bit of an overtone of violets. It's like that friend who talks a little too loudly in public places, but whom you forgive because, after all, they still have something interesting to say.
cheers, Patchen
