2004 Harlan Estate - USA, California, Napa Valley (11/22/2016)
The term power without weight gets thrown around, but with this wine it fits. No this is not a light wine, but it has immense depth and power, but is not remotely heavy. My one regret about the wine is that it's gone, and I will likely never have it again. The Harlan volatile acidity was there, but not obtrusive, so all the velvety fruit and perfect balance was totally on show. Not a perfect wine, but a perfectly memorable wine, and one I was thrilled to experience.
