My latest Drew club shipment arrived last week, so pobega'd last night:
1. Drew Syrah PerliVnyd/MendoRidge (13.9%; www.DrewWines.com) Elk 2014: Very dark color; very strong blackberry/Syrah/blueberry slight herbal/dried Italian herbs some peppery/cracked black pepper/cold-climate Syrah some toasty/smokey/oak complex lovely nose; somewhat tart very spicy/Italian herbs very blackberry/Syrah/blueberry some toasty/Fr.oak/charred structured slight herbal flavor w/ some firm/ripe tannins; very long/lingering ripe/blackberry/Syrah/very spicy some black pepper/c-c Syrah light toasty/charred/oak slight earthy finish w/ modest firm/ripe tannins; nees 4-10 yrs of age; a modest degree of c-c Syrah character but lacks the green olive of Carneros or SonomaCoast Syrah; not dramatically c-c Syrah but very good; reminds a lot of SteveEdmunds ElDorado Syrah, some of Jaffurs Thompson Syrah; quite a good structured ageable Syrah. $48.00

1. JasonDrew is, of course, one of the darlings of the IPoB crowd. May they RIP. I like his Syrahs (and Viognier and Albarino) quite a lot. His Pinots are also quite good, but of less interest to me.
