WTN: Cappellano Dolcetto d'Alba

by David M. Bueker » Mon Nov 07, 2016 10:27 pm

2014 Cappellano Dolcetto d'Alba - Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Dolcetto d'Alba (11/7/2016)
Through sheer luck I have been able to drink quite a bit of Cappellano lately. Nebbiolo d'Alba while in Torino was a supreme treat, and now Dolcetto at home is another treat. The elegance and grace of these wines amazes me every time I pull a cork. It's not just some mix of fruit and tannin, but an experience that transcends the grape. I really should not finish a bottle on a Monday night, but the wine is too compelling, too complete, too easy to sip and enjoy moment after moment. These wines are hard to source, but like all great treasure they are worth the hunt.
