by Jim Grow » Mon Nov 07, 2016 7:17 pm

Athens Ohio that is. Indian food served by our host, which was excellent

Started off with the Prie "Love Flowers" Brut 1999....yeasty/ brioche young still

2014 Vrie-Clesse V.V. by Meurgey-Perron...mineral..crisp pear fruit. excellent food wine, very nice white Burgundy

1986 Gruaud LaRose...fabulous nose of sweet/sour cherry and dried herb, palate follows with plum and tobacco also, great color, no decline noticed

1999 Pavie....tobacco,sweet cherry nose, quite young, slightly tannic on finish, tons of well-balanced black fruits, hold for 10+

2012 Taken Red Wine...Napa cabernet-based red I believe, very herbal in a good way, lots of sweet black fruit

2009 Zaca Mesa Syrah...nice complexity with olive on nose spicey plum on palate, smooth tannins

2001 Giraud Sauternes... spicey pear, dusty nose, viscous with palate of botrytis and poached pear, decades of pleasure ahead

two great Saturdays in a row...I'm living the dream!
