SacBee: MikeDunne on Randall's PopelouchumProject

A rather interesting article in today's SacBee by MikeDunne on RandallGrahm's PopelouchumProject down in SanJuanBautista:
SacBee:Popelouchum

It shows Randall at his flakiest best. It's easy to dismiss Randall as a crackpot, a nut-case, and Calif's wine jester, but I have an enormous respect for Randall's intellect. This wine world would be a much/much duller place w/o Randall to stir things up.
He has some very interesting things planted at Popelouchum (Furmint/Picolit/Ruche/Rossese....one wonders where he sourced this plant material??) and it will be interesting to see what results. It also reflects his passion for PinotNoir...a passion that, fortunately, has not been extinguished by the realities of the marketplace.
And it should not be overlooked that Randall is making some of his best wines ever. His Syrah from the venerable X-Block is absolutely first-rate. If you haven't tried BonnyDoon wines in awhile...they're worth revisiting.
Ohh....forgot to mention that I followed Randall....yada/yada/yada.
Anywhooo...an interesting and worthwhile read.

I tried a Pinot from Bonny Doon last month, and I really liked. Definitely on the earthier side of the spectrum. he also made a half noir/half meunier sparkler that I am eager to try this month!
