Tried this last night w/ dinner after all the trick-or-treaters had departed:

LeMonde Refosco dal PeduncolaRosso DOC: Friuli/Grave (L99; 13%; www.TheSortingTable.com; www.LeMondeWine.com; Planted: 1980) Prata de Pordenone 2013: Med.dark color; fairly strong black cherry cola/Refosco/boysenberry/bit Mondeuse-like some earthy/loamy/rustic slight pungent/burning metal/smokey nose; lightly tart/metallic some black cherry cola/Refosco/licorice rather earthy/loamy flavor w/ light sharp/bitey tannins; med.long tart/tannic/bitey/tangy/metallic some black cherry cola/Refosco finish w/ light bitey tannins; a somewhat rough/coarse/rustic Friuli red that speaks quietly of Refosco; pleasant enough but undistinguished. $21.00 (SFW&S)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. At one time, Mondeuse and Refosco were thought to be the same grape. This was additionally confused when Mondeuse in Calif was mistakenly identified as Refosco. But DNA shows the varieties have no connection whatsoever.
