A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. The IngridGroiss wines are imported by CircoVino out of Tuscon. A few yrs ago, the GemitscherSatz '11 showed up
here in NM. I was blown away by the wine and managed to round up the remaining 9 btls from the one case that
landed in NM (not sure who got the other 2 btls...but they are probably so unworthy). I initiated an e-mail
correspondance w/ Ingrid and she invited me for a visit the next time I came to Austria. So she was #1 on
my list for visits on this trip. Alas, my trip corresponded w/ crush and, since this is a one-woman operation,
the timing was not good. Nonetheless, Ingrid invited Susan & me to dine at Heuriger IngridGroiss and made some
time to visit w/ us during pressing (no pun intended) tasks in the adjacent winery.
We made the short trip from Hollabrunn to Breitenwaida, over some curious back roads that the GoogleMaps
lady told us to take. As we were going into the heuriger, a man drove up in a truck wearing a NebraskaUniv
sweatshirt. In the middle of the boondocks of Northern Austria!! Turns out it was Goosie, Ingrid's partner,
who also has his own winery.
Alas, CircoVino does not get all the wines that Ingrid produces, only the entry tier GV/GS/Rose. Most of
these wines we had are not imported into the USofA. Too bad...because they are exceptional...some of the finest
Austrian wines I've tried. It was an amazing evening of grazing on the platter, visiting w/ other folks in the
heuriger, visiting w/ Ingrid on the various wines she brought out for us to try between chores in the wnry.
Truly magical. And the GoogleMaps lady got us safely home to Hollabrunn.
