1. Monsecco DOCG: Ghemme (13.5%; NeilRosenthal; 85% Nebbiolo/15% Vespolina & UvaRara) Zanetta Sergio e Valter/Sizzano 2009: Med. color; quite fragrant Nebb/floral/lilacs/rose petal some pungent/tarry/smoked meats light licorice/spicy/fennel some earthy/dusty beautiful complex classic Nebb nose; very tart/tangy quite hard/austere/tannic classic Nebb/lilacs earthy/dusty smoked meats/pungent/tarry angular/lean/hard/rough flavor w/ ample hard/tangy tannins; long very hard/tannic/austere tart/tangy licorice/tarry/smoked meats/pungent bit floral/lilacs/rose petal classic Nebb finish w/ hard/rough/agressive tannins; big for an AltoPeimonte Nebb; a lovely/classic/perfumed Nebb nose but rather painful on the palate and needs at least 10 yrs of age to be drinkable, if ever. $40.00 (KK)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. As is the want in the AltoPiemonte, Vespolina/Croatina (Bonarda), and UvaRara are often blended in with the Nebbiolo to give color and soften the tannins, which it didn't much in this case.
