2005 Joh. Jos. Prüm Bernkasteler Badstube Riesling Auslese - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (10/28/2016)
Opened to accompany dinner at Hong King Fusion (Cherry Hill, NJ) and it was up to the task. Several years of aging has blunted the richness of the 2005 vintage, bringing the wines closer to the balance I prefer. Also, being a Prum wine, there is always a tendency for moderation and precise balance. The apple and cherry fruit tones were accented by subtle spice and the finish was clean and pure. I kept going back to this for the balance. There is tons of upside potential, but it's not criminal to drink a bottle of this now if you are having rich food.

I've been ignoring my '05s, fearing grumpiness, guess I should reconsider

Howard Cooper opened a 2005 Prum Auslese over the weekend that showed well also. There's no hurry.
