2007 Wind Gap Wines Syrah Castelli-Knight Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (10/17/2016)
Imagine my delight when I found another bottle of this wine in the cellar. Eighteen months since my prior bottle, and this has evolved to a delightful spot, with red fruit, meat and floral overtones that blanket a supple, balanced, textured mouthfeel of elegance and persistence. Yes that is a salad of adjectives, but it encompasses the numerous positive qualities of the wine. There is still a lot of stuffing, so no danger in further aging, but this is in a very good place right now.

Awesome.

I have not followed Pax for very long (although I remember loving a 2008 Armagh Syrah from the dairy country west of Petaluma, of all places!).

I actually have a club shipment waiting for me. I need to pick it up this weekend. Good excuse for a road trip, and the West County bicycle trail picks up a block or so away from Wind Gap!

Nice. I'm really quite surprised at how many California '07's, considering the warmth of the vintage, have been age-worthy.
