Months ago we drove to Lompoc for an overnighter, primarily to taste wines at Arcadian's tasting room which turned out to be a huge disappointment. But the trip was saved due to the discovery of this winery, which I previously knew nothing about, just across the way. There we found excellent traditional styled pinot noirs and dazzling sparkling wines. I bought close to a case. Last night we opened the 2011 Flying Goat Cellars Dierberg Vineyard pinot noir, an excellent example of cool vintage complexity with cherry fruit, licorice and attractive herbal notes. First Dierberg I've tasted but for Dierberg Winery's own stuff, which are much more modern and candied than Flying Goat's treatment.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
