MelKnox was in town and gifted me a btl of his wine:
1. Uvaggio Moscato secco Lodi (13%; Moscato giallo; http://www.Uvaggio.com) l'Uvaggio di Giacomo/Napa 2015: Med.yellow color; lightly muscatty/hair oil/floral/peach blossom light earthy/chalky quite fragrant/attractive nose; totally dry/tart bright flowery/muscatty/hair oil light earthy/chalky slight tangy/bitter attractive flavor; very long lightly tart/tangy/citric some muscatty/floral/peach blossom/hair oil light stony/earthy finish; much like an AltoAdige GM but w/o the terrior-driven/earthy character those often show. $nc (MK)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Moscato Gialla, a progeny of Muscat blanc à Petits Grains, is mostly grown in the AltoAdige, where it is called Goldmuskateller. This is not the Gelbermuskateller of Austria.
I like dry Muscats as a genre. When made from Muscat blanc à Petits Grains, the aroma can often be a bit overpowering. But others of the Muscat can show a bit more restraint. This wine was just one such.
It still amazes me by the quality of many of the whites coming from Lodi. It's a region that doesn't get a lot of respect.
