2002 Fevre Chablis & 2005 Pavelot Les Peuillets

by Jason Hagen » Thu Sep 15, 2016 8:23 pm

2002 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Bougros Cote de Bouguerots - France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru (8/29/2016)
Very thankful to say that this bottle was not pre-moxed. Drinking very well. Delicious. Improved with about 30 minutes of air.

2005 Domaine Pavelot (Jean-Marc et Hugues) Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Peuillets - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru (8/18/2016)
This has greatly improved. A wine that keeps me coming back for more. The aromatics have a nice rusticity to them. Cherries, dried cherries, and roses. Very pretty red fruits. Still gripping tannins. Clean and pure on the palate. Fairly light bodied. The fruitiness on the finish has a bit of a savory quality. A joy to drink. (94 pts.)

Cheers,

Jason

Good to hear. It's bit hit and miss with me for my few 2005s, so I'm holding off for the time being. I have a few 05s from Bize Aux Vergelesses that I have never tried at all. I know it's not the same as your Savigny, but am curious how they will be.

I have had very few 2005s over the last few years but the few Pavelots I have had were great.
