WTN: Selbach Sundial

2001 Selbach-Oster Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (9/6/2016)
Served blind to my tasting group.

This wine is exactly what I would expect from 15 year old Wehlener Sonnenuhr. It has evolved into a lemony, creamy mixture of grace, harmony and exuberant finishing power. While it starts out quite light, as it moves through the mid-palate and finish the energy grows into a sparkling end that carries the wine forward to the next sip. It's doing exactly what I expect from a 2001 Mosel. Delicious right now, but with plenty of time in hand.

I'll forever be grateful to Garagiste for offering these in 2004. I didn't buy nearly as many as I should have, but I wasn't up on Selbach back then.
