2001 Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (9/6/2016)
Served blind to my tasting group, this was absolutely on point. It kind of got its butt kicked by the other wine in the pairing, a 1997 Willi Schaefer Kabinett, but that is no crime, as the Schaefer may be the best Kabinett I have ever tasted.

Anyway, the Selbach showed lingering apple and orange peel along with subtle smoke/petrol notes. Light in body and yet very long on the palate, it was beautiful on its own later. I still have 3 more and will drink them soon because this is in a great place.

Selbach-Oster is gaining more attention up here and have seen a couple of kabs amongst the offerings.
