Tried this wine last week:
1. Carlisle PetiteSirah PalisadesVnyd/NapaVlly (15.4%; 165 cs) 2013: Very dark/black color; intense boysenberry/blackberry/PS/slight peppery/ripe light oak slight alcoholic nose; soft rich/lush/mouthfilling chocolaty/ripe/boysenberry/PS/light peppery light oak flavor w/ ample soft/ripe tannins; very long soft/rich/lush/ripe/mouthfilling strong boysenberry/chocolaty/PS/licorice/light peppery light oak finiah w/ ample soft/round tannins; loads of PS fruit but just a bit on the oafish side compared to his Zins; should age into something very good in 5-10 yrs. $49.00

1. Like Carignane, it's hard to make a silk purse outta sow's ear. This wine has loads of fruit for a PS, but just seems to be a bit simple on on the oafish side. Galumps across the palate in combat boots. Wether it'll outgrow this or not is anybody's guess. But you have to admire it for its intensity & extract.

Do I really HAVE to?

It's the nature of the beast.
