I had never heard of this winery before purchasing a few bottles via Last Bottle about two years ago. I was attracted to Cellar Tracker notes which reported a sturdy, almost old-fasioned wine with huge tannins that needed a lot of time--like California Cabernet from decades past in which big Cabernets were built for cellaring. Last night I decided to open one to see how it's coming along, and I was not disappointed:
2009 Oakville Terraces Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Grown
PnP. Black cherry fruit, cedar, and tobacco. Lots of spice on the nose, leathery, mouth-filling with muscular tannins evident but not obtrusive. Showed VERY well, should have a long life. 20 years, maybe longer.
