Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 1994 - Not exactly the best Bordeaux vintage but I was made an offer I could not refuse. Popped and poured for dinner tonight. Quite dark but with pronounced browning on the edge. Pronounced coffee nose with touches of blackberries, currants, floral notes and meat. Medium+ body but very soft. On the palate, sweet spices. The fruit is pretty ripe with a bit of sweetness to it although the wine itself has a lean frame. Some acidity at the back end. Earthy notes and dried herbs. Pretty dry. Medium+ length. Definitely not for decanting and an open bottle should be consumed within 2 hours before starting to fall apart. Still, I found it very good but certainly past peak and should be consumed soon.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.
