PietroButtitta New Venture

by TomHill » Wed Aug 10, 2016 11:28 am

Just noticed in the latest WineBiz magazine:
WineBiz/Pietro
that PietroButtitta has finally launched his new PrimaMateria venture: PrimaMateria

I've known Pietro for a number thru NEB. He has been (and continues to be) the winemaker at Rosa d'Oro up in LakeCnty, where he has specialized in Italian varietals.

His new PrimaMateria effort will merge his culinary skills w/ his winemaking skills. He's still not selected a site for this new wnry/restaurant effort, but will probably be in the EastBay. I tried his PrimaMateria Nebbiolo at our NEB#6a tasting at MondaviInstitute at UC/Davis a month ago & liked it quite a lot.

Anyway...here's your chance to follow PrimaMateria "from the very start"..as they say.
Tom

And even a wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Pietro's WebSite has a .co address. I've always seen the .com address, but never a .co What gives??

Thanks Tom, yes the first vintage of Prima Materia is out now (Cab Franc, Tinta Roriz, Rhone blend, Carmenere/Bdx blend, and Mourvedre) and we will be releasing a new vintage of Rosa d'Oro Aglianico, Sangiovese, Negroamaro, Nebbiolo. etc. very soon as well. I have a location for Prima Materia in Lafayette, California but am still looking for a partner to secure the location and get the venture up and running. We will be making wine inside of a restaurant where I will also be the chef - the first of its kind in the San Francisco Bay Area. Should be pretty cool and kind of unique. The address is http://www.prima-materia.co - the ".co" is because .com was taken... Cheers

Pietro,
That's great news to hear. I can hardly wait to try it out next time I'm out there.
