Tried this Fri night w/ Susan:
1. Carlisle TwoAcres RRV RW (14.2%; OldVine; Mourv/PS/Syrah/Carignane/AlicanteBouschet; 290 cs) 2008: Very dark color; intense plummy/blackberry/very spicy rather dusty/OV some licorice/RCCola rather complex beautiful nose; lightly tart very strong plummy/boysenberry/RCCola/DrPepper rather dusty/OV fairly lush/rich structured quite complex flavor w/ light smooth/firm tannins; very long/lingering lightly tart balanced strong plummy/Mourv/boysenberry/blackberry quite dusty/OV light toasty/oak quite complex finish w/ modest smooth/ripe tannins; shows lots of dusty/OV character and lots of Mourv/plummy; beautiful drinking now and should go another 4-6 yrs, or longer. $39.50

1. TwoAcres ("Twackers" to us insiders) was planted in 1910. It was the original vnyd Mike started working...way back when. It just dawned on me that I'd never actually walked that vnyd w/ Mike. I must do that sometime...so I can see something that's older than me!!
I've often able to pick up an old-vine character in many of these old-vnyd wines. I describe it as "dusty/OV". I think Twackers displays this character as well or better than any other wine I can think of.
Mike had mentioned last week he thought the Twackers '08 was really singing. So dug out a btl and gave it a shot. He was right...beautiful wine.
