WTN: 2001 Chateau Quinault L'Enclos, St. Emilion, Grand Cru (Bordeaux)

Hi all,

This is my first tasting note ever. I am going to try and be as thorough as possible. Please feel free to critic and let me know if I added to much or missed something.

2001 Chateau Quinault L'Enclos, St. Emilion, Grand Cru : This wine is 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Malbec. Purchased on sale for $53.00 (USD), marked down from $69.99 (USD). Alcohol is 13.5%. Dark purple, opaque color. Heavy aromas of dark fruit, especially black cherry, plums, blueberry, also some strawberry and rose. Taste was lighter than the nose, but still had dark fruits along with some leather and chocolate. Ended with plums and a long finish.

Had this wine on Christmas Eve with prime rib and it went very nicely. I think the wine was even better the next night. I really enjoyed it...too bad I couldn't afford to drink wine like this all the time.

pretty thorough tasting note! Sounds like a nice wine-I am really getting into Saint Emillion wines (and the few California wineries that seem to see Merlot as a soft and savory and multilayered grape, not a bottle of Welch Grape Juice Cocktail)
