WTN: Ramsay Syrah Calif '90..(short/boring)

by TomHill » Wed Aug 03, 2016 12:18 pm

Had this last night w/ my Sardinian Fregula pasta:
1. Ramsay Syrah Calif (13%) 1990: Med.color w/ slight bricking; rather smokey/toasty/oak light earthy/blackberry/Syrah fairly smokey/pungent slight Rhonish/roasted/black olive tapenade some cedary/pencilly/oldRed fairly complex nose; soft rather smokey/charred/toasty/oak light earthy/loamy/blackberry/Syrah complex flavor w/ light bit drying/astringent tannins; very long rather pungent/smokey/toasty/oak some roasted/smokey/Rhonish/black olive light blackberry/Syrah complex finish w/ light drying/astringent tannins; one the downside & starting to dry out but still lots to like about this survivor Syrah.

1. Ramsay is the second label of KentRassmussen, usually made from purchased grapes. Last time I checked w/ Kent, he couldn't recall where these Syrah grapes originated.
