We then hit Wind Gap. The winery dog was so cute and friendly-and he kept the floor very clean of ALL crumbs!
I LOVED their Chenin Blanc, which has not been bottled yet and is only available as a growler (and I had forgotten mine). The Trousseau Gris is always lovely. The Alexander Valley Grenache is quite feral-not really similar to other Grenache I have tried, but quite interesting. The Woodruff Pinot Noir from Santa Cruz Mountains AVA is also quite feral, but more in a red fruit way. There was also a nice "tomato leaf" character in the herbal notes that was distinctive and appealing to me. I do think it needs time. My favorite, though, as always, is the delicious Armagh Syrah, from Chileno Valley Road just west of Petaluma in the midst of dairy country. Lovely violets, meat, earth, cherry on a lithe, high acid frame. I utterly love this wine (my only purchase of the day). The Barlow is a fun place to visit. We visited Zazu afterwards and had way too much food!
