WTN: Jackson-Triggs Proprietors' Grand Reserve Merlot 2004

by Bruce Hayes » Mon Jan 08, 2007 7:46 pm

Okanagan Valley.

My oh my, what a wine!!

Very dark purple in the glass.

A lovely nose, spicy, sweet cherry fruit, chocolate, peppery, just a hint of leafiness.

Rich and full, mouth-caressing, black cherry, spicy, chocolate, inky and black, with some mild to moderate drying tannins toward the end and on the finish.

A lovely nose and lovely wine.

For reasons that are far too complicated to get into here, we don't much in the way of BC wines here in Ontario, so this was quite a treat.

Great QPR at $21.95 (Canadian).

Great note, and nice to hear you enjoyed the wine.

I don't think the reason why there aren't many BC wines in Ontario (and vice versa) is too complicated: stupid provincial parochialism!! Each province wants to look after its own...

Great note indeed Bruce. I would like to try but have a lineup of N Rhone and NZ SB plus a couple of of mystery wines in mind!! Keep`em coming Bruce.

Will have another one to try soon. The next Vintages release (January 20) will feature the J-T Proprietors' Grand Reserve Meritage.

It is supposed to be as good as the Merlot and, even better, a buck cheaper.
